Module 1: Define Diversity and Inclusion
In this module, you’ll answer the question: If standard diversity training isn’t working, how do we talk about diversity and inclusion in a way that moves teams forward?
- Discuss the attributes, traits and unique characteristics that make up diverse groups
- Identify the value of diversity and the qualities of inclusive workplace cultures
- Consider others’ perspectives to ensure success at every level of your organization
Module 2: The Value of Inclusion
Understand the moral and logical justifications for inclusion and the insight of historical leaders on the power of inclusivity.
- Identify what inclusion means, distinguishing between inclusion and diversity
- Summarize the moral case for inclusion that involves empathy and others-centered thinking
- Summarize the logical case for inclusion by considering the costs and benefits associated with inclusive and exclusive thinking
Module 3: A Holistic Approach to Diversity
In order to take full advantage of the benefits of inclusion, you need to begin to understand the importance of a culture built on the individualized value of difference.
- Discuss the meaning of taking a holistic approach to diversity
- Relate your experiences with 5 principles of diverse organizations
- Recognize strategies to overcome barriers to diversity
Module 4: Refining Relationships Through Social Awareness and Communication
Social awareness is the ability to deal with societal, as well as interpersonal, challenges. It enables a person to relate effectively with everyone around them.
- Explain interpersonal skills needed to succeed at work
- Describe communication styles and how best to relate with all personality types
- Articulate valuable communication strategies and techniques that foster effective relationships
Module 5: Applying Workplace Emotional Intelligence Tools
Research studies have shown that the most productive and motivated employees are those whose leaders set an emotionally intelligent tone or atmosphere.
- Discuss the significance of team EI
- Describe leadership strategies for developing team EI
- Identify methods to help team members handle workplace stress
Module 6: The Impact of Engagement on Diversity and Inclusion
Gather the research that supports the importance of engagement, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
- Identify the unique qualities of diverse individuals in a group setting
- Discuss the link between inclusion and engagement
- Compile a list of skills and individuals that you can begin to include in your projects at work
